Mike Kahrs, "Keeper Of The Keys"
Providing the warm, familiar sound of the Hammond B-3, organist Mike Kahrs is no stranger to the instrument, having provided "Vitamin B-3" to numerous sessions and bands over his 34 year career.
Born in New York and currently hailing from the West Coast, Mike has performed with The Mike Reilly Band Featuring The Toler Brothers (ex-Allman Bros./Marshall Tucker); Mike also held the keyboardist chair of the Blowin' Smoke R & B Revue, fronted by ex-Spirit/Delaney-Bonnie & Friends bassist/singer Larry Knight. That position afforded Mike the opportunity of working with some of L.A.'s hottest players, during their time between tours, from bands such as Tower Of Power, The Ike Turner Revue, and others. When time permits, Mike showcases original material in some of the L.A. and O.C.'s top venues such as the House Of Blues, B.B. King's and Gary Folgner's Coach House and Galaxy Theatre, not to mention Omega Events' Doheny Days Festival.
With an Arts degree from Fullerton College, Mike honed his craft under such illuminary musician/educators as Dick Powell, Alex Cima and Bill Kirk, and his powerful organ style has been compared to the stylings of greats such as Brian Auger, Seth Justman (J. Geils Band), Jon Lord, and Lee Michaels. Whether playing Original material or the Blues/Rock classics, Mike's style of "Vitamin B-3" is sure to get you up out of your seat and on your feet!
